Services for Zell Dean Shuttlesworth, 73, of Abernathy,TX were held at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 12, 2002, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Steve Gauntt and David Bennett officiating. Entombment followed services in Lubbock, TX under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Shuttlesworth died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on September 11, 1928 in Southland, TX, and attended schools in Slaton, Lubbock and Adrian before graduating from Hereford High School, Hereford, TX in 1944. She attended West Texas State University in Canyon, TX in 1945 and moved to Sudan in 1946. On April 18, 1947 she married Joe Shuttlesworth in Clovis, N.M. She was employed by the Lubbock Independent School District for 10 years as a library clerk. She was a homemaker, active in church affairs and helped raise and train quarterhorses with her husband for 25 years. She is survived by her husband, Joe Shuttlesworth of Abernathy, TX, 1 daughter, Dee Shuttlesworth of Fairview, TX, 2 sons, Lynn Shuttlesworth of Lubbock, TX, and Blake Shuttlesworth of McKinney, TX. 2 sisters, Bonita West of Sudan, TX and Patsy Molder of Richland Hills, TX. 1 brother, E. A. Harris of Tijuana, Mexico. 5 grandchildren, Jennifer of Alpine, TX, Shane and Ryan both of Lubbock, TX, Krystal and Tara both of McKinney, Tx.
