Winnie Phillips

Services for Winnie Phillips, 81, longtime resident of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Monday, March 31, 2003 in the Abernathy First Baptist Church in with Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Phillips died Friday, March 28, 2003 at BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas. She was born on October 26, 1921 in Erath County, Texas. She married Bryan Phillips on April 22, 1940 in Abernathy. He died in August of 1980. She had lived in the Abernathy community for 61 years moving from Bluffdale, TX in 1940. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended the Naomi Sunday School Class. Survivors: 2 sons: B.W. Phillips of Lake Brownwood, TX and Gary Phillips of Lubbock TX. 1 daughter: Barbara Watson of Amarillo, TX. 1 brother, Earl J. Jones of Stephenville, TX 2 sisters; Connie Moore and Gertrude Babkowski both of Stephenville, TX. 8 grandchildren 2 step grandchildren 10 great grandchildren 8 step great grandchildren The family suggests memorials be sent to the Abernathy Cemetery, Abernathy First Baptist Church or BSA Hospice of Amarillo.
