Services for William"Bill" R. Johnson, 65, of Shallowater, TX were held at 1:30 pm, Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Shallowater with Rev. Walter Goodnight and Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Johnson died July 22, 2003 in Odessa, TX. He was born July 5, 1938 in O'Donnell, TX. He married Marian Dunn on November 23, 1968 in Amarillo, TX. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Mission in Olton, TX and was a member of the Mission Service Corp. He was a member of Lubbock First Baptist Church Orchestra and had served in the U.S. Navy, and was the coordinator for Disaster Relief Program for the Texas Panhandle Region. He retired from the military and from the Lubbock Department of Public Safety. He was a longtime resident of Shallowater. Survivors include his wife, Marian of Shallowater, TX 1 brother: Mike Johnson and wife Sandie of Odessa, TX. Stepmother, Betty Johnson of Abernathy, TX 4 nieces, Ivy Roberts and Vance of Abilene, TX, Lee Baird and Matt of Odessa, TX, Anna Johnson of College Station, TX and Ashley Young of New York, NY 1 nephew, Andre' Johnson of Odessa, TX 2 stepbrothers: Victor Dees of Abernathy, TX and Jerry Dees of Lindale, TX 2 step sisters, Valerie Cross of Tulia, TX and Lane Trusler of Lubbock, TX Numerous great nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by his parents, Iver L and Clarice Johnson and 2 brothers, Edwin L. Johnson and Roy Doyle Johnson. The family suggest memorials be sent to Womens Missionary Union at First Baptist Church in Shallowater, TX. Abell Funeral Home
