Vanessa Nicole Dominguez passed away on September 9, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 41. She was born on August 10, 1985, in Temple, Texas to Samuel and Victoria (Almaguer) Dominguez.
Vanessa was raised in Abernathy, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She continued her education at Howard College in Big Spring before earning her bachelor’s degree in social work at Texas Tech University. She went on to work as a social worker, a role that reflected her caring nature and her desire to help others.
She was a free spirit and a very social person who brought warmth and energy to those around her. Vanessa loved her children and treasured spending time with her family. She enjoyed shopping online, loved the beach—especially Port Aransas—and always looked forward to October and Halloween. She also had a special love for rescuing animals, a reflection of her compassionate heart.
Vanessa is survived by her sons Mattax and Brendyn Ledesma, parents, Samuel and Victoria Dominguez; her brother, Matthew Dominguez and girlfriend Mindy Huddleston, her grandparents, Emma Palacios and Josefa Dominguez, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by Matthew Ledesma, the father of her children.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Melinda Almaguer for the care, attention and love she gave to Vanessa.
The family will gather to receive friends on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Abell Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Abernathy United Church. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
Vanessa will be remembered for her loving heart, her vibrant spirit, and the joy she found in family, friendship, and the things she loved most. Her memory will remain with all who knew and loved her.
