Graveside services for Vallaree Wright, 100, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 21, 2025, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Harold Bufe officiating. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm, Thursday, February 20, 2025. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Wright died Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in Olton, TX. She was born November 12, 1924 in Fisher County, TX to Harris Hodge and Mary Rutilla (Sheffield) Ruminer. She was raised in Hermleigh, TX, where she graduated high school in 1942. She worked as a telephone operator in her early years, and later worked for Texas Instruments in 1978, remaining with them for the next 6 years. Vallaree married Dan Spencer Wright, January 25, 1951 in Hermleigh, TX. While raising her family, she was a stay at home mom. She also enjoyed word search books and cooking. She was a faithful christian that loved her Lord and loved to sing. She was a longtime member of the Abernathy Church of Christ. After moving to the Running Water Draw Care Center in Olton, she enjoyed playing bingo and rummikub. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Wright, her twin sister, Dessalee Beevers, 4 brothers, Carl, Guy, Dallas and Willy and her son-in-law, Sparks Redinger. She is survived by her son, Robin Wright and wife Sheryl of Rockport, TX, and daughter, Mona Redinger of Olton, TX, 3 granddaughters, Stacey Moore of Sherwood, AR, Jennifer Leago of Rockport, TX and Brandy Hayes of Arlington, TX., 7 great grandchildren, Zachary, Spencer, Avery, Tyler and Ayden, Grayson and Colbie. The family suggests memorials to the Running Water Draw Care Center, 800 13th Street, Olton, TX 79064.
