Graveside Services for Toribio Salinas will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 5, 2025 in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Terry Wright officiating. The family will gather to receive friends Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop, Abernathy, TX.
Toribio Salinas, 58, of Abernathy, TX, died on May 31, 2025, in Lubbock, TX.
He was born on June 30, 1966, in Camargo, Mexico, to Prudencio and Inocencia (Garcia) Salinas. Raised with strong values and a dedication to hard work, Toribio graduated from Cotton Center High School in 1985. He married Lisa Marez, June 27, 1992 in Hale County.
A lifelong cotton ginner, Toribio began his career at TUCO Gin in Abernathy and continued working at various gins across West Texas, including Cotton Growers Gin in Lubbock, Morton Gin in Morton, Spade Gin in Spade, and Cotton Center Gin. He also worked part-time in South Texas during the summer months ginning, always committed to the work he loved.
Outside of his profession, Toribio was skilled in welding and mechanic—always happy to tinker, build, and repair. He was known as a "Jack of All Trades". Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
Toribio is preceded in death by his parent, a brother Robert Salinas and a sister Dinett Salinas.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Salinas of Abernathy, children Toribio Alejandro Salinas of Abernathy, Marina Godinez and husband George of Plainview, TX, grandchildren Jacob, Xavier, Izak, Naomi, Niaylli, and Alicia Salinas, siblings Criselda Marquez, Rosa Bazan, Francis Mata, Gloria Alverado, Prudencio Salinas Jr., Esperanza Rodriguez and Javier Salinas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
