Tommye Lane

Graveside services for Tommye Lane, 88, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 1, 2015, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Pastor Michael Holmes, of Levelland, TX, officiating. The family will gather at Abell Funeral Home to receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Monday, November 30th. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Lane died Thursday, November 26, 2015, in Lubbock, TX. She was born October 1, 1927 in Comanche, TX to Seaborn Smith and Kitty Catherine (Carpenter) Payne. She married Billie Jack Lane on February 29, 1948 in Comanche. They moved to Abernathy in 1965 from New London, IA. She was a member of the Central Christian Church while living in Comanche and the First United Methodist Church after moving to Abernathy. She was active in the Abernathy Chamber of Commerce and retired from the banking industry after 25 years. She was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Matthew Scott and Jeffrey Tyler Lane in 1987 and 3 sisters, Catherine "Dickie" Lawless, Patsy Wall and Jo Nell Davis. She is survived by 3 children, William Kirk Lane and wife Kimberly Gayle of Jackson, WY, Mary Lane Royal and husband Barry of Abernathy and Nancy Lane of Abernathy, 2 sisters, Merle O'Dell and husband Gayle and Mary Lackey, 5 grandchildren, Lauren Lupien and husband Justin, Erin McIntyre and husband Daniel, Katy Harkey, Kelly Oswalt and husband Clint and Andrew Harkey and 2 great grandchildren Harper Scott Lupien and Jackson Wayne Oswalt.
