Tommie Wages

Services for Tommie H. Wages, 66, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, in the First Baptist Church, Abernathy, with Rev. Mike O'Donnell, pastor, officiating. The Wages Family gathered at Abell Funeral Home, Sunday from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm to receive friends. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Wages died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008 in Lubbock, TX. He was born November 7, 1941 in Lubbock, TX. He married Bobbye Joan Richards on June 14, 1963 in Lubbock, TX and they moved to Abernathy in 1966 from Idalou, TX. He was a member of the FFA and was named Star Young Farmer. He was very active in the American Agriculture Movement, and was a partner in City Gin. He served on the Board of Directors of of the High Plains Underground Water District and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was most proud of being "Pappy". He is survived by his wife, Bobbye Wages of Abernathy, TX, a son, Cody Wages and wife Shilla of Wolfforth, TX, a daughter, Leigh Ann Wages of Abernathy, TX, 4 grandchildren, Whitney Kinney, Paden Kinney, Garrett Wages and Erin Wages, 1 great granddaughter, Elizabeth Jo Babb. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Sue Faulkner and husband Jim of Idalou, TX and Margaret Ann Rieken and husband Gary of Abernathy, TX and 1 sister-in-law, Marilyn McElya and husband Carey of Dallas, TX.
