Memorial services for Terri Stillwell, 60, of Lubbock, TX., will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 5, 2026, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
Teresa Dawn "Terri" (Gist) was born on March 4, 1966, in Lubbock, Texas to Jerry Gist and Connye Marshall. She graduated from Abernathy High School in 1984 and later attended Texas Tech University, where she earned her bachelor's degree. On December 14, 2012, she married Randall Stillwell.
Terri was a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering determination. Though she never sought attention for herself, her love for family and friends was evident in the countless ways she cared for those around her. When something truly mattered to her, her gentle nature was matched by a steadfast resolve that carried her through life's challenges.
Traveling was one of Terri's greatest joys, especially taking cruises and creating memories with family and friends. She treasured holiday gatherings, particularly Christmas, when her home was filled with festive decorations and the warmth of family traditions. As a mother, she provided guidance, encouragement, and discipline, always wanting the very best for her children.
Terri found special joy in her role as a grandmother. She delighted in celebrating birthdays, holidays, and milestones, never missing an opportunity to spoil her grandchildren and make them feel loved.
A devoted Christian, Terri's faith sustained her throughout her life. Even during difficult times, she remained a fighter, facing challenges with courage and perseverance. Her legacy is one of resilience, faith, and the reminder to never give up.
Those who knew Terri can easily imagine her smiling at the attention being given in her honor and saying, "I told my kids I didn't want all of this attention." Yet the same determination she carried throughout her life lives on in her children, who lovingly chose to celebrate a life that meant so much to so many.
She endured a difficult battle that tested her in countless ways, yet she met each day with incredible strength and courage. She fought with everything she had, refusing to let her illness define her. Her determination and love for her family carried her through even the darkest moments. She fought until the very end, never giving up and continuing to show great strength throughout her journey. Though her fight has ended, the example she set through her courage and perseverance will remain in the hearts of those who loved her forever, especially her children.
Terri was preceded in death by her Father, Jerry Gist , November 3, 1999.
