Services for Tanner Jay Mills, 44, of Abernathy, TX will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Henderson and Rev. Damon Pearce officiating. Private family burial will be held in the Abernathy Cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, December 2, 2024 at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Tanner died Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in San Angelo, TX. He was born to July 19, 1980, in Lubbock, TX to Kelly and Lisa (Wolf) Mills. Tanner was raised in Abernathy, graduating Abernathy High School in 1998. While in High School, Tanner was active in FFA and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). He attended Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, where he earned his Associates degree in Mortuary Sciences in 2001. He worked for several funeral homes in the area over the years. Tanner married Tamber Vasek, January 2, 2020, in Las Vegas, NV. Tanner was baptized in the Abernathy First Baptist Church at an early age. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lisa Mills, September 10, 2001, grandmother, Alice Wolf, October 21, 2001 and grandfather, Jim Mills, May 28, 2002. Tanner is survived by his wife, Tamber Mills of Abernathy, step-son, River Vasek of Abernathy, father, Kelly Mills and wife Julie of Lubbock, TX, 2 siblings, K'Lea Dowdy and husband Blake of Idalou, TX and Kyle Mills and wife Hannah of Lubbock, paternal grandmother, Frankie Mills of Lubbock and maternal grandfather, Ralph Wolf and wife Fran also of Lubbock, and several aunts, uncles, nieces nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Stanton, Sky Bradley, Ladd Lutrick, Sky Stephenson, Jared Dunn, and Trey Thompson. The family suggests memorials to the Abernathy Cemetery, P. O. Drawer 150, Abernathy, TX 79311 or to a favorite charity.
