Tanga Monroe

Memorial services for Tanga Monroe, 62, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Monday, March 13, 2023, at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Perez, pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services and cremation are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Tanga died at her home in Abernathy, Wednesday, March 8, 2023. She was born, the youngest of 5 children, January 8, 1961, in Hale Center, TX to Ebb and Anita Payne. Tanga was raised in Abernathy, graduating from Abernathy High School in 1979. She married Jimmy Monroe and together they had one daughter, Heather. Tanga was employed by Bobby Moody and Phillip Hays Law Firm in Lubbock for many years as a legal assistant. She also worked for several other attorneys over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Billy Payne, Durwood Payne and Boyce Neal "Tink" Payne. Tanga is survived by her daughter, Heather Fritzler and husband Brad of Abernathy and 2 grandsons, Cooper and Jake Fritzler, a brother Bobby Payne and wife Kathy of Brownwood, TX, longtime friend Shane and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
