Sue Attebury

Funeral services for Sue Attebury, 71, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 22, 2007, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Attebury died Tuesday, February 20, 2007, in Lubbock, TX. She was born on December 26, 1935 in Stonewall County, TX to William Everett and Essie (Jones) Driver. She married Thomas John "Red" Attebury on February 20, 1965 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2002. They moved to Abernathy from New Deal in 1987 and she had been employed by Caprock Growers in New Deal and the Texas Workforce Center. She was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church, and had served as secretary of the First Baptist Church in New Deal and was Chairman of their Young at Heart Group. She was also a member of the Abernathy Senior Citizens. She is survived by her 2 sons, John Attebury and his wife Sandi of California, MD, and Thomas Bryan Attebury and his wife Amy of New Deal, TX, a brother Horace Driver of Paradise, CA, and 4 grandchildren, Megan, Kyle, Brittany and Jacob. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church, Abernathy Cemetery or Lubbock Meals on Wheels. Abell Funeral Home
