Rosary for Sipriana Martinez, 69, of Abernathy, TX, was held at 7:30 pm Saturday, November 1, 2003, in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Arnold Bravo, pastor, officiating. Funeral mass was held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 3, 2003, at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Martinez died Friday, October 31, 2003, in Lubbock, TX. She was born September 26, 1934 in Lott, TX. She married Robert Martinez, Sr. in 1952 in Lubbock, TX. He preceded her in death December 9, 1999. She moved to Abernathy in 1966 from New Deal, TX and had lived in Cotton Center prior to that. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, the Guadalupanas and Crusillistas. She had been employed by the Abernathy ISD for several years retiring in 1982. Survivors; 3 sons, Robert Martinez, Jr, Santos Martinez and Hugo Martinez, Sr, all of Abernathy, TX. 2 daughters, Hermalinda Perez and Maria Areola both of Abernathy, TX. 1 brother, Basilio Paz of Greeley, CO. 1 sister, Manuela Martinez of Kress, TX. 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
