Services for Sarah Laverne Manus Woods, 67, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 3, 2002, in the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. W. R. Bolton, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. Woods died Monday, July 29, 2002, at her home in Abernathy. She was born on June 26, 1935 in Naples, TX. She married Sammy Lee Woods in September of 1952 in Clovis, NM. She was a longtime Abernathy resident and was united with the Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Sammy Woods, Jr. 1 sister, Minnie Hall and a brother, Billy Manus. She is survived by; husband, Sammy Lee Woods of Abernathy, TX, 5 daughters, Bertha Faulk of Abernathy, TX, Shirley Woods of Lubbock, TX, Priscilla Acha and Felicia Woods both of Austin, TX, and Kathy Woods of Canyon, TX. 5 brothers, Willard Manus, Jay Horace Manus, James Manus and George Manus all of Dallas, TX, and Joe Manus of Lubbock, TX. 1 sister, Allie Taylor of Dallas, TX, 8 granddaughters and 4 great grand children.
