Jim Hancock officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, Tx. Mr. Hemphill died on Monday, January 21, 2002 in Covenant Lakeside Medical Center in Lubbock, Tx. He was born February 17, 1936 in Hunt County, Tx. He married Gail Smith on August 12, 1955 in Hale County, Tx. He was a longtime Petersburg resident and was a Baptist. Survivors; Wife, Gail Hemphill of Petersburg, Tx., 1 Brother, Earnest Junior Hemphill of Abernathy, Tx., 2 Sisters, Annie Ruth Lebow of Abernathy, Tx., and Lena Mae Acree of Lubbock, Tx.
