Ruth Ruffin

A celebration honoring the life of Ruth Ruffin, 88, of Lubbock, TX, and formerly of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 1, 2006, in the Redbud Baptist Church, Lubbock, with Rev. Syl Moore officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Ruffin died Friday, July 28, 2006, in Lubbock, TX. She was born September 7, 1917 in Gunter, TX and married Ivan F. Ruffin, June 30, 1934 in Dorchester, TX. They moved to Abernathy in 1969 where she was a member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens. November 3, 2001, she moved to Lubbock and became a member of the Redbud Baptist Church in Lubbock, was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and had been active in Prime Time, a senior citizens organization at the church. She is survived by her son, Charles Ruffin and his wife Glenda of Lubbock, TX, a daughter, Wilma Moore and her husband Syl of Lubbock, TX, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan F. Ruffin on March 25, 1993, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
