Memorial services for Ruth Applewhite Lowry, 82, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 27, 2002, in the Hale Center Church of Christ with Silas Short officiating. Cremation services were under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mrs. Lowry died at her home on Saturday, November 23, 2002. She was born February 1, 1920 in Hale Center, TX to T. R. and Auda Turner Applewhite. She attended Stoneback School through the 8th grade and graduated from Hale Center High School in 1936. She attended Texas Tech College, graduating in 1940. She married Leonard T. Lowry on August 16, 1941 in Houston, TX. They lived in Cotton Center, TX from 1949 until 1998 when they moved to Hale Center. She was a school teacher at Cotton Center High School from 1952 until 1987. Survivors; husband, Leonard T. Lowry of Hale Center, TX, 1 son, Thomas "Chip" Lowry and his wife Judy of Ft. Worth, TX, 1 daughter, Connie McDonald and her husband John of Tucson, AZ. 1 brother, Tommy Applewhite and his wife Lou of Cotton Center, TX, 1 sister, Jody Hyde and her husband Harold of College Station, TX. 4 grandchildren, Colleen McDonald of Malawi, Africa, Kate McDonald of Tucson, AZ, Amie Lowry of Dallas, TX and Megan Lowry of Ft.
