Ruth Cannon

Services for Ruth Cannon, 83, of Abernathy, TX were held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in the Abernathy First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mike Davis and Rev. Louis Schaap officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, TX under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Cannon died at her home, Thursday, October 7, 2010. She was born May 6, 1927 in Sioux Falls, SD. She married Roy Cannon in 1948 in Lubbock and he preceded her in death August 2, 1981. They lived on the farm near Abernathy until moving to town in 1959. She graduated from Nursing School and served as an RN in several hospitals, she also worked for family practice division at HSC in Lubbock as head nurse from 1971 until retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Nazarene Church. She is survived by 2 sons, Bobby Cannon of Lubbock, TX and Gene Cannon of Corpus Christi, TX, a sister, Louise Perkins of Artesia, NM, two grandchildren, Crystal and Brett and one great grandchild.
