Rupert Allen

Masonic Graveside services for Rupert L. Allen, 80, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 3, 2004, in the Abernathy Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Allen died Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at his home. He was born December 22, 1923 at County Line, TX. He married Maurine Allen, October 21, 1940 in Portales, NM, and she preceded him in death March 12, 1998. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Abernathy Masonic Lodge # 1142 and had farmed in the Abernathy area many years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Oleta Winters, August 20, 2000. Survivors include three sons, Dennis and Dottie Allen of Austin, TX, Darvin and Joy Allen of Abernathy, TX and Danny Joe and Maude Allen of Plainview, TX, a sister, Leoda Clark of Anton, TX, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.
