A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Northside Baptist Church, Abernathy, TX. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.
Ruby Nell Parker was born on June 4, 1927 in Wellington, Texas. Her parents were Monroe and Sally (Neeley) Parker. Ruby Nell married Clyde Pittman on February 22nd, 1946 in Clarksville, Texas. Clyde and Ruby were married 58 years until his death in 2004.
She and Clyde had two children,Gary who passed away in 1975 and Sharon who now lives on Hale Center.
Sharon married Randy Trammell and they have two children, Laura and Brad who gave her a new name, "Nana". (For the remainder of this writing that is the name we'll use.)
Nana loved people and enjoyed working in the public, so an over 30 year career checking groceries or manning the counter at the convenience store was right up her alley.
Nana also loved the Lord and really loved Northside Baptist Church. She dedicated herself to teaching Sunday School, serving as church treasurer and making many meals for "Pot Luck" Sundays or funerals.
Nana also had a subtle way of evangelizing and several members here can bear witness to her persistent invitations to come join her at Northside services. Nana's impact as a pioneer member here, is a testament to her love for the Lord and this church.
Nana loved her family and took great pride in watching it grow. Laura married Clint Patterson and they gave her three great grandchildren, Jay, Eli, and Lizzie. When her health declined and she began to live with Randy and Sharon in Hale Center, there was even more time to enjoy her great grands.
Nana taught us all a deep lesson about love when Clyde, the love of her life, began to struggle with mental decline. She selflessly devoted herself to him even when Alzheimer's disease made it exceedingly difficult.
Nana (Ruby Nell Pittman) was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her 4 brothers Revis Parker, Woodrow Parker, Leonard Parker, and J.W. Parker, and her son. (And at 98 most of her peers.)
She is survived by her daughter Sharon and husband Randy Trammell, her granddaughter Laura and husband Clint Patterson, her grandson Brad Trammell, and great grandchildren Jay, Eli, and Lizzie Patterson.
"Well done my good and faithful servant"
