Ruben Cuevas

Rosary for Ruben Cuevas, 60, of Lubbock, TX, will be recited at 6:30 Thursday, October 4, 2018, in St. Isidore Catholic Church, Abernathy, with Rev. Jacob Puthuparambil officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, October 5, 2018 in the same church with the same officiant. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery.

Mr. Cuevas died Monday, October 1, 2018, in Lubbock.

Ruben was born April 22, 1958 in Lubbock to Daniel Cuevas, Sr. and Ninfa (Ramos) Cuevas.  He married Laura Carson, June 5, 1999 in Lubbock. He volunteered with the Abernathy EMS and served with the Lubbock EMS for 19 years, and was an EMS instructor and member of the EMS RAMS Team.  Ruben was also a member of the EMS Honor Guard.  He was a loving and gentle paramedic, helping many people over the years.

Ruben was an avid sports fan.  He loved being an Abernathy Antelope, Texas Tech Red Raider, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Danny Cuevas.

He is survived by his wife Laura Cuevas of Lubbock, 3 children, Natasha Mora, Trisha Quintanilla and husband Mike and Alina Cuevas all of Lubbock, 8 grandchildren, Joshua, Jake, Millie, Jaydan, Annamarie, Mila, Mike, Jr. and Aidan, one brother Mike Cuevas of Brownsville, TX and a sister Sylvia Moss and husband Mark of Atlanta, GA, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Ruben's pallbearers will be the members of his Lubbock EMS Honor Guard Team that he has worked with over the years.
