Royce Hess

Royce Franklin Hess, age 94, was born in Winkler County, Texas on December 18, 1909. Royce had lived in Lubbock County since 1910. Services were Monday April 26, 2004 at 2:00 pm in New Deal United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Lubbock County Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Hess died Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. He married Cleo Young in Abernathy on August 12, 1933. They had farmed and lived in the New Deal Community. Royce was a member of the New Deal Methodist Church and a Charter member of New Deal Lions Club, having received his 50 year pin. He is survived by his wife Cleo, one daughter, Glenda Pearl West, her husband Herbert of Lubbock, one sister, Una Dee Dutton of Ft. Worth. Two grandchildren, Glenda Kay Van Hoose, her husband Wayne of New Deal, and Jackie Wayne Thompson, Jr., his wife Kandy of Anson, Texas. Also, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Abell Funeral Home
