Rosita Montoya Paez

Services for Rosita "Rosa" Montoya (Cardenas) Paez, 69, of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 2, 2020, in the Monte De Los Olivas Church in Abernathy, TX with Dr. Sr. Rev. Isaac Barraza, Jr. officiating. Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 1, 2020 from 9:00am until 1:00pm at Abell Funeral Home. Burial will follow services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Paez died December 29, 2019, in Lubbock. She was born August 30, 1950 in Rockford, CO, to Jeronimo and Eufemia (Montoya) Cardenas and was raised in Abernathy and Kingsville, TX and graduated from Kingsville High School. She married Oscar R. Paez, June 3, 1979 in Lubbock. She retired as a teachers aide for Abernathy ISD after 30 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, embroidery and eating popcorn. She loved everybody and going to church. Rosita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rev. Oscar Paez, brothers, David and Jeronimo Cardenas, Jr., sister, Lupe Garcia She is survived by daughter Priscilla Paez and husband George Garcia of Abernathy, a son, Lazaro Paez and wife Jessica of Texarkana, TX, 5 grandchildren, Eliazar Garcia, Mariza Paez, Tobias Paez, Claudia Gonzales and Yuliana Contreras, sister, Pauline Cortez and husband Leonardo of Lubbock and a brother, Manuel Cardenas of Texarkana, TX.
