Services for Rosie Brown, 89, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 10, 2006, in the First Baptist Church, New Deal, TX, with Rev. Terry Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Brown died Monday, March 6, 2006, in Lubbock, TX. She was born June 16, 1916 in Tarkio, Missouri. She married Robert Newton Bronw on November 22, 1933 in Welston, OK. They moved to the Abernathy area in 1955 where she was employed as a cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Abernathy Senior Citizens and the New Deal First Baptist Church since 1955, and was also a member of the Church Young At Heart group. She was preceded in death by her husband, June 16, 1974, a son, Robert Brown and 3 great grandchildren, Jesse Perkins, Stephanie Clark and Christopher Garcia. She is survived by 10 children, Letha Smith and Rose Mary Carman both of Abernathy, TX, Jesse Brown and Billy Clark both of Lubbock, TX, Arthur Brown of North Carolina, Jerry Brown and Donald Brown both of Oklahoma City, OK, Deanna Oldham of Celeste, TX, Betty Rhines of Granbury, TX, and Roberta "Robbie" Neel of Clyde, TX, 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Lois Sutton of Oklahoma City, OK and Mary Walker of Amherst, MA. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 237, New Deal, TX 79350. Abell Funeral Home
