Rose Mary Carman, a beloved resident of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully with a smile on her face on March 15, 2026, at the age of 81. She was born October 15, 1944, in Lubbock Robert Newton and Rosie Bessie (Cronk) Brown. Rose Mary dedicated her life to her family and community. Rose Mary married William Lee Reedy in 1968 in New Deal, Texas and to that union as born Melody Dawn. Following William's passing, she married Cecil Glen Carman in Lubbock, Texas. She was a devoted optician and owned her own business alongside her husband, where she offered care, compassion and fashion to her patients. 

A passionate traveler and keen gardener, Rose Mary found joy in planting vibrant gardens filled with vegetables and flowers. She had a particular fondness for receiving bouquets, appreciating the beauty they brought to her home. Rose Mary was a spirited supporter of local football, frequently attending high school and Texas Tech games. She later enjoyed cheering for the Red Raiders from the comfort of her living room. 

Rose Mary's deep faith and commitment to her community shone through her extensive volunteer work at church. She served in various roles, including treasurer, children's Sunday school teacher, mother's day out volunteer and director of Vacation Bible school, touching the lives of many people. Her adventurous spirit also led her to serve as a missionary in Russia, embodying her dedication to faith and service. Rose Mary was a member of Northside Baptist Church before moving her membership to First Baptist Church Lorena, Texas in 2015. 

She is survived by her loving daughter, Melody Libby, and her two cherished granddaughters, Marianne Elise Libby and Lorelei Rose Payne, whom she adored and spoiled with love. She is also survived by four siblings, Dee Odom, Jerry Brown, Betty Rhines and Roberta Neel. Rose Mary will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the joyful spirit she brought to all around her. She will be greatly missed but celebrated by friends and family for the beautiful life she lived. 

Rose Mary was preceded in death by: Parents, Robert and Rosie Brown, husbands, William Reedy and Cecil Carman and six siblings, Robert Brown, Arthur Brown, Jessie Brown, Don Brown, Billy Clark and Letha Smith.

A celebration of Rose Mary's life will be held, honoring her legacy and the love she shared with so many. Graveside services will be at at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 1st, 2026 at the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev Heath Kirkwood officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas. 

The family kindly requests everyone in attendance wear bright colors to honor the brightness she brought to everyone around her.
