Services for Rickey Lynn Smith, 63, of Abilene, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 26, 2011, in the First Baptist Church, Abernathy, TX. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Smith died at his home in Abilene, TX, Tuesday, March 22, 2011. He was born February 27, 1948 to M.E. "Dude" and Mable Leona (Mahagan) Smith. He married Linda Kenner on October 5, 1989 in Abilene, TX. He farmed with his parents in Hale County, TX before moving to Abilene, TX in the late 1980's. He was employed by American Electric Power, (AEP) while living in Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents, M. E. "Dude" Smith and Mable Leona Willingham and a son, Bradly Smith. He is survived by his wife Linda Smith of Abilene, TX, a daughter, Darla Carter and her husband Jared of Tyler, TX, 2 step-sons, Buster Collings of Austin, TX and Shaun Collings and his fiance', Anne Nguyen of Los Angeles, CA, 2 sisters, Dana Annis and her husband James of Abernathy, TX and Anna Hill of Lubbock, TX and 2 grandchildren, Justin and Golden.
