Memorial graveside services for Rebecca Joann Purvis, 44, of Santa Teresa, NM, were held at 3:00 pm Saturday, February 8, 2003, in the Hale Center Cemetery, Hale Center, TX. Services were under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Burial of cremated remains followed services in the Hale Center Cemetery. Ms. Purvis died Monday, February 3, 2003, in Santa Teresa, NM, at her home. She was born September 28, 1958 in La Jolla, CA. She married Andrew Marquez on November 23, 1977, and he preceded her in death, November 23, 1997. She attended elementary school in Artesia, NM, and graduated from Roswell High School in 1975. She then graduated from New Mexico State University, Carlsbad, NM Campus, as a registered nurse. She had worked as a psychiatric nurse at Charter Plains Hospital in Lubbock, TX, and another facitlity in Denton, TX. She was employed as an RN at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, TX. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Artesia, NM. She is survived by; 1 son, Ryan Shaun Purvis and his wife Angela Marie of Santa Teresa, NM. Parents, Jim and Lois Purvis of Santa Teresa, NM. 2 brothers, John Purvis of El Paso, TX, and Dan Jones-Purvis and his wife, Beverly of Frisco, TX. Abell Funeral Home
