Services for Ray Sparkman, 44, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Friday, August 11, 2006, in the Northside Baptist Church, Abernathy, TX, with Rev. Gary Hughes officiating. Burial followed services in the Friona Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Sparkman died at his home Monday, August 7, 2006, in Abernathy. He was born March 14, 1962 in Friona, TX. He married Tracy Schumacher on February 11, 1983 in Lubbock, TX. He was a longtime Abernathy resident and was an employee with the City of Abernathy for 9 years. For the past 2 years he was employed as a corrections officer with the Smith Unit in Lamesa, TX. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Sparkman of Abernathy, TX, 2 daughters, Suzanne Reyes and her husband Jevon of Abernathy, TX, and Tiffany Garcia and her husband Antonio of Lubbock, TX, a grandson, Malachi Jordan Reyes and his parents, Eldon and Linda Sparkman of Abernathy.
