Ray Higginbotham

Services for David (Ray) Higginbotham, 86, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 14, 2014, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Higginbotham died peacefully at his home in Abernathy, April 10, 2014. He was born June 10, 1927 in Duffau, Erath County, TX, to J. D (Dave) and Olga ( Rainwater) Higginbotham. He served in the US Navy during WWII and in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Alvera Wilke on November 4, 1961 in Lubbock, TX and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jake and 2 sisters, Mildred and Peggy. Mr. Higginbotham is survived by 2 sisters, Shirley Gilbert of Midland, TX, and Charlene Fudge of Hale Center, TX, nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to the SouthPlains Honor Flight, P.
