Graveside services for Ray J. Childress, 64, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 1:00 pm Monday, January 30, 2012, in the Hale Center Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Hartley officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center, TX. Mr. Childress died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, in Lubbock, TX. He was born April 21, 1947 to Roy & Mamie Childress, in Silverton, TX. He attended Hale Center Schools and loved to read books and listen to country and western music. He is survived by a sister, Etta Dinwiddie of Plainview, TX, 5 nieces, Virgie Halton, Marion Searcy-Willie, Judith Birdow, April Hall and Dreama Kelly-Brian, 3 nephews, Richard L. Young, Roy Young and Johnny Session, 21 great nieces and nephews and 26 great great nieces and nephews. Abell Funeral Home
