Services for Preston Amerson, 85, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 15, 2004, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Amerson and Rev. W. A. Amerson officiating. Burial followed services in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Amerson died Friday, November 12, 2004, in Lubbock, TX. He was born September 21, 1919 in Jones County, TX and moved to Abernathy at age 5 with his family. He married Jessie Audrey Pope, December 15, 1941 in Abernathy, TX. She preceded him in death, May 28, 2002. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in Europe and Northern Africa. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and had been employed by Thompson Implement for several years. He is survived by a son, Gene Amerson of Denison, TX, 3 daughters, Deanna Cole and Sharron Robertson both of Shallowater and Dawn Westmoreland of Abernathy, TX, a brother, W. A. Amerson of New Albany, Indiana, 9 grandchildren, Billy Cole, Amanda Lee, Crystal lara, Laura Robertson, Lance Robertson, Amberlee Westmoreland, Rachel Amerson, Chris Amerson and Wayne Robertson and 6 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 704 Ave. D, Abernathy, TX 79311. Abell Funeral Home
