Ona Maserang

Services for Ona Mae Maserang, 98, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 13, 2014, in Abernathy's Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Perez and Rev. Gary Hughes officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 am in the Hawley Central Cemetery, Hawley, TX, with Eugene Boaz officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will gather to receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Wednesday, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Mrs. Maserang died Saturday, November 8, 2014, in Lubbock, TX. She was born May 25, 1916 in Alba, Tx to Henry Franklin and Lucinda "Lucy" (Hill) Swinney. She married Willie "Bill" Sylvester Maserang in June of 1934 in Butman, TX. Tthey moved to Hale Center in 1948 from Merkel, TX and then moved to Abernathy in 1950. They lived in Muleshoe from 1965 until 1978 working for J. C. Mills Farms. She moved back to Abernathy after Mr. Maserang's death in 1978. She was a membeer ofthe Northside Baptist Church, was an avid quilter and loved gardening. She was preceded in death by 11 siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Parrish of Abernathy, TX, 2 sons, Dwayne Maserang and wife Flora of Amarillo, TX and Henry Maserang and wife Elsie of Menard, TX, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
