Nelda Sanders Brown, born on May 17, 1943, in Snyder, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. She was a remarkable woman whose life was filled with love, laughter, and a passion for her family.

A proud graduate of Abernathy High School in 1961, Nelda furthered her education at Wayland Baptist University. There, she showcased her athletic prowess on the basketball court as a member of the Flying Queens. Nelda's commitment to sports did not end there; she embraced her role as a soccer coach for her daughters, nurturing a love for the game in the next generation.

In 1962, Nelda embarked on a beautiful journey of love and partnership when she married Joe Tom Brown, Jr. on August 17, a union that would last until his passing on February 9, 2024. Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with joy, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

For over ten years, Nelda dedicated herself to running a successful at-home daycare, where her nurturing spirit touched the lives of many children. Her devotion to their growth and happiness extended beyond just babysitting—she became a trusted figure in their lives, shaping young minds and fostering lasting connections.

In addition to her love for children, Nelda enjoyed bird hunting, proving herself as quite the sharpshooter. Her adventurous spirit took her outdoors, where she found joy in nature and the thrill of the hunt.

Familial bonds were paramount in Nelda's life; she devoted herself to her children and grandchildren, often being found cheering them on from the sidelines or involved in their various activities. She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Tandy Webb and husband Robert of Lubbock, Texas, and Cindy Parker and husband Jeff of Cross Plains, Texas. Additionally, her four grandchildren—Aaron Webb and Tyler Stone Webb, both of Lubbock, Caity Webb Coleman and husband Colbie of Dallas, Texas, and Wyatt Parker of Cross Plains, Texas—will forever carry her legacy forward.

Nelda is also survived by her brother Jerry Sanders and wife Marsha of Lubbock. She was predeceased by her parents W.D. and Aletha Isabell (Vick) Sanders, her husband Joe Tom Brown, Jr., and her sister Gwendolyn Howard.
