Graveside services for Mozelle Owens, 76, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 4, 2003, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Steve Gauntt, minister of the Abernathy Church of Christ, officiating. Services were under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Owens died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at her home in Lubbock, TX. She was born on February 6, 1926 in Hamlin, TX. She married Charles Owens on February 23, 1945 in Garden City, KS. She moved to Lubbock from Paris, TX in 1970 and had lived in Abernathy prior to that. She retired from Paddle Tramps in Lubbock after many years. She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jiminey Owens in 1975. Survivors; Husband, Charles Owens of Lubbock, TX 1 son, Jim Owens of Lubbock, TX. 1 sister, Pauline Jenkins of Abilene, TX. 1 granddaughter, Cinnamon Nieman of Lubbock, TX. 2 great grandchildren The family suggests memorials be sent to the Abernathy Cemetery, c/o First State Bank, 402 - 9th Street, Abernathy, TX 79311.
