Mildred Tannehill

Services for Mildred Inez Redwine Tannehill, 97, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 20, 2006, in the Abernathy First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lloyd Stice and Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire officiating. Burial followed in the Center Plains Cemetery, Cotton Center, TX under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Tannehill died Friday, February 17, 2006, in Post, TX. She was born September 30, 1908 in Lynn County, TX. She graduated from Tahoka High School in 1927. She married Frank Elvene Tannehill on November 3, 1935 in Dickens, TX, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron from 1978 until 1979. She also served as Cub Scout Den Mother in 1948 - 1950 and again in 1954 until 1956. She was a clerk at Pinson Pharmacy and was active in the First United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent in the 1950's. Mrs. Tannehill was also employed at the Abernathy ISD from 1957 until 1963. She was preceded in death by her Father, James Michael Redwind in 1961, her Mother, Gertrude Ellie McReynolds in 1970, a grandson, Stephen Wayne Tannehill in 1961 and siblings, Alfred, James Michael, Jr, and Frank Redwine and Alene Prather. She is survived by 2 sons, Lane and wife Margie of Post, Tx, and Mike and his wife Judy of Marshall, TX. She is also survived by a grandson, Tim Tannehill and wife Cheryl of Big Spring, TX, 2 granddaughters, Traci Stevens and husband Kirk of Post, TX and Mika Beberly and husband Brian of San Antonio, TX, and six great grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Tobyn Tannehill, Branda and Blace Stevens and Katherine Renee Beverly. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church 704 Ave. D, Abernathy, TX 79311 or to Vista Care Hospice, Lubbock, TX. Abell Funeral Home
