Mildred Becker

Services for Mildred (Brown) Becker, 82, of Lubbock, TX, were held at 10:00 am Monday, July 20, 2009, in Shepherd King Lutheran Church. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Becker died Thursday, July 16, 2009, in Lubbock, TX. She was born May 27, 1927 in Abernathy, where she was raised and graduated from High School in 1945. She married Bill Becker on August 3, 1952 in Lubbock, TX. She lived in Lubbock from 1945 until moving to Freemont, CA in 1963, Metairie, LA in 1968 and returned to Lubbock in 1973, where she lived until her death. She was a longtime employee of Furr's Grocery in the bookkeeping department, and she was a member of the Shepherd King Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ormand Kenneth Brown, Joe Tom Brown and James Edwin Brown and one sister, Jo Ann Shields. She is survived by her husband, Bill Becker of Lubbock, TX and a daughter, Dr. Deborah Becker and her partner Deborah Moody of Casselberry, FL.
