Melleva Waters Rapstine

Graveside services for Melleva (Waters) Rapstine, 95, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 11, 2021, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. Viewing will be held from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Wednesday, November 10th, at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Rapstine died at her home in Abernathy, Monday, November 8, 2021. Melleva Waters was born January 25, 1926 in Deer Creek, OK to Jack Clarence Waters, Sr and Bessie (Wilson) Waters. She graduated from White Deer High School, White Deer, TX , in 1944. She married Herbert Allen Rapstine, September 3, 1944 in Shreveport, LA. They moved to Abernathy in 1950 and began farming. When her children were young, Melleva was involved in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and PTA. She kept books for their family businesses and their farming operation. She was a Methodist. Mrs. Rapstine is preceded in death by a brother, Jack Clarence Waters, Jr. and her husband, Herbert Allen Rapstine, March 14, 2018. She is survived by her two children, Debbie Rapstine and Dennis Rapstine and wife Janet all of Abernathy, TX.
