Maybelle Smith

Maybelle Watts Smith was born August 14, 1932 to Louis Alexander and Lilly (White) Watts in Llano County, Texas. As a small child, she saved her brother, Walter, from drowning. He had been told to sit on the bank of the river, and he decided he could get in the water, and after going straight to the bottom, Maybelle pulled him out, saving his life. She lived in Kyle, TX before moving to Abernathy in 2012. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Willie York Watts and George W. Watts and a sister, Mary Francis Lackey. Maybelle died at her home in Abernathy on Friday, February 20, 2015. She will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service in the Llano Cemetery, Llano, TX. Cremation and services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Deborah Kay Bryant of Austin, TX and Connie Lee Spivey of Kyle, TX, one brother, Walter Watts of Abernathy, TX, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
