Services for Max Arriaga, 7, of Abernathy, TX will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, January 1, 2016, in the First Baptist Church of Petersburg, TX, with Randall Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery. The family will gather to receive friends Thursday, January 31, 2015 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm at Abell Funeral Home in Abernathy, TX. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Max died Saturday, December 26, 2015 in Sulphur Springs, TX. Max attended school at Abernathy Elementary and was a member of Mrs. Gatica's 2nd grade class. He loved playing whatever sport was in season. Max also loved watching sports. He would often ask family members, "Which team do we root for?". Max was a fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys. He was also very helpful and loved doing his chores. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, W.C. "Bill" Isbell and paternal grandfather, Simon Arriaga, Sr. Max is survived by his father, Candelario Arriaga of Petersburg, his mother Belinda Isbell and step-dad, Jim Rodriguez both of Abernathy, his siblings Nicole Perez and husband Jericho of Petersburg, Candelario Arriaga, Jr. and wife Stacey of Lubbock, TX, Kara Isbell and husband Jamal of Dallas, TX, Samuel Arriaga and wife Vanessa and Sage Guadalcazar and wife, Mindi, all of Lubbock, TX, and Donovan Rodriguez of Abernathy, TX, grandparents Earlene Isbell of Abernathy, TX, Esther Arriaga of Petersburg, TX, and Jim & Martha Rodriguez of Abernathy, TX, godparents Bucky & Margaret Adams of Petersburg and daughter Taylor Hernandez and husband, Jace of Lubbock, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to Children's Cancer Research, 7301 Ohms Lane, Minneapolis, MN 55439 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
