Maudie Jones

Services for Maudie Jones, 90, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 3, 2011, in the Abernathy First United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Jones died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in Lubbock, TX. She was born April 17, 1921 in Springfield, CO to Ernest B. Cree and Elsie Miller Cree. She married Roy E. Jones on July 5, 1947 in Raton, NM and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1971. They moved to Abernathy in 1952 from Colorado, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and owned and operated Jones Bookkeeping until retiring in 2006. She is survived by 7 nieces and nephews, numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home Friday evening, December 2, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Abernathy. Abell Funeral Home
