Mattie Nix

Services for Mattie "Sophie" Nix, 94 of Lubbock, TX and formerly of Abernathy, TX, were held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Abell Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike O'Donnell, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Nix died Monday, August 18, 2008, in Lubbock, TX. She was born September 29, 1913 in Gresham, Kentucky. She married Levi Turner Nix in March of 1934 in Borger, TX. She had lived in Petersburg, TX a short time prior to moving to the Abernathy area in the late 1940's. She was a member of the Abernathy Senior Citizens and the First Baptist Church. She moved to Lubbock in 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers and sisters. She is survived by 2 sisters, Mabel White of Kansas City, Missouri and Minnie Stevenson of Roswell, New Mexico, 8 neices and 7 nephews. Abell Funeral Home
