Mary Louise Lutrick

Memorial Services for Mary Louise Lutrick, 91, of Lubbock, TX, formerly of Abernathy, will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2025 in the Abernathy United Church with Rev. Janet Edwards officiating. The family will gather to receive friends Friday, January 10, 2025 from 5:30pm until 7:00pm at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Lutrick died Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in Lubbock, TX. She was born February 8, 1933 in Gunter, TX, to Ray E. and Mary Lee (Baker) Savage. Mary attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. While in High School she played volleyball and officiated volleyball games, was on the School newspaper staff and their Senior Publication staff. She was a part of the Dallas Historical Society, was a Red Cross Representative and student council representative. She graduated in 1950. Mary married Lewis Lutrick in Dallas, June 4, 1952 and they soon made their home on the homestead family farm in Abernathy where she was a devoted and proud farmers wife. She went from a city girl to a farm girl in a short time, never missing a step. They remained on the farm until moving to town in 1972. Mary and Lewis were great supporters of their children attending numerous events they were involved in. She was a faithful member of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church, now known as Abernathy United, and served on various committees. Mary worked at Hemphill-Wells in Lubbock and later was a librarian at Abernathy Elementary School. She later began working at the Lubbock County Tax Assessor office as Deputy Chief. Following her retirement from Lubbock County, she spent her time chasing the grandchildren, attending sporting events, band concerts, stock shows and anything else they were involved in. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Lutrick in 2013 and son-in-law, Gery Franklin in 2011. Mary is survived by her 3 children, Larry Lutrick and wife Bambi, and Scott Lutrick and wife Kimberly, all of Abernathy, and Carrie Lee Franklin of Lubbock, grandchildren, Linc Lutrick and wife Jessica of El Campo, TX, Ladd Lutrick and wife Jodee of New Home, TX, Morgan Turner and husband Brent of Abernathy, Landon Lutrick and wife Alita and Lyssa Casanova and husband James, Key Lutrick and fiancé, Kelly Jones, all of Lubbock and 14 great grandchildren.
