Mary Duckett

Graveside services for Mary Duckett, 89, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 22, 2013, in the Englewood Cemetery, Slaton, TX, with Branden Denton officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Duckett died Thursday, June 20, 2013, in Lubbock, TX. She was born March 18, 1924 in Posey, TX to Albert Letcher (A.L.) and Mary Lou (Gumm) Johnson. She graduated from Slaton High School in 1942. She married Leslie Loyce Duckett on March 9, 1956 in Lubbock where she lived until moving to Abernathy in 1959. She was a member of the Abernathy Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, August 17, 1989 and 4 children. She is survived by 2 sons, Jimmie Ray Vannoy of Jacksonville, AR and Larry Glenn Vannoy of Everett, WA and a daughter, Vickie Lynn Evans of Abernathy, TX, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Children's Home of Lubbock, 4404 Idalou RD, Lubbock, TX 79403.
