Services for Marie Hendrix, 83, of Abernathy, TX were held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 9, 2005, in the Abernathy First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Sikes and Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial followed services in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. Mrs. Hendrix died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at her home in Abernathy. She was born August 13, 1921 in Chico, TX, to Jesse C. and Beatrice A. (McKibben) Veach. She moved to Abernathy in 1943 and married Foy Hendrix, May 2, 1945 in Abernathy. She had lived in Draw, Lynn County and graduated from New Home High School in 1938. She attended Texas Tech University, Draughan's Business College and graduated from Hi Plains School of Nursing in 1980. She had been employed at the Texas Department of Agriculture, Abernathy Medical Clinic and Struve Implement. She was an active member of the Abernathy First Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and was involved in various church activities. She is survived by her husband, Foy Hendrix of Abernathy,TX, her daughter, Gwyn Pope and her husband Robert of Abernathy, TX, 2 sons, Randy Hendrix and his wife Tressa of Lubbock, TX and Ken Hendrix and his wife Keila of Allen, TX, 2 sisters, Reva Florence of Littlefield, TX and Betty Jeffery of Uvalde, TX, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
