Marie Galloway

Services for Marie Galloway, 91, of Abernathy, TX will be held at 2:00pm Friday, April 12, 2013, in the Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Perez and Rev. Bill Summers officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home, Thursday, April 11, 2013, from 6 pm until 7:30 pm. Mrs. Galloway died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at her home. She was born June 11, 1921 to R. C. and Mattie Belle (Tinsley) Meek, in Sherman, TX. She married J. C. Galloway on September 3, 1938 in Lewisville, TX. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2008. They moved their family from Dallas, TX to Abernathy in 1943, she was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked in the nursery for many years. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Galloway in 1990, 4 brothers and a sister. She is survived by a son, Billy Ray Galloway of Garden Valley, TX, one daughter, Pat Thompson of Lubbock, TX, 2 brothers, Jean Meek of Garden Valley and Kenneth Meek of Carrollton, TX, one sister, Auline Summers of Denton, TX, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
