Maria Del Rosario Flores

Services for Maria "Chayo" Flores will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, July 13, 2023 in the First Baptist Church, Abernathy, with her son, Pastor Fernando Flores, officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. The family will gather to receive friends on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Flores died on Monday, July 10, 2023 at her home in Abernathy. She was born on January 9, 1950 to Lizandro "Servando" and Regina Flores (DeLuna) Jimenez in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico. Maria married Jesse Flores on January 30, 1976 in San Fernando, Coahuila, Mexico and they then moved to Abernathy, living in the area for many years. Mrs. Flores enjoyed traveling and always had a bag ready. She loved spending time with her grandkids and family, calling everyone on their birthdays. Mrs. Flores also loved flowers, especially roses, and going to the Cotton Center Football games. She loved singing and playing the guitar, which she often did while serving the Lord and telling others about Him. Mrs. Flores is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Flores, a step-son Jesse Flores, Jr, and siblings Fernando Jimenez, Mercedes Rivera, Eloisa Lara, and Medardo Jimenez. She is survived by 4 children Fernando Flores and wife, Elda, of Abernathy, James Flores and wife, Yuli, of Hale Center, Texas, Jessica Klassen and husband, Franz, and Albert Flores, all of Abernathy, 2 step-children Joe Flores and Connie Frances Flores, both of Snyder, Texas, 6 grandchildren, and 4 siblings Lizandro Jimenez, Maria Del Luz Garcia, Maria Del Refugio Garcia, and Modesto Jimenez all of Del Rio, Texas.
