Magdalena S. Ramos

Rosary for Magdalena S. Ramos, 100, of Abernathy, TX, will be recited at 6:00 pm Tuesday, October 21, 2025 in the St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Brian Wood, pastor, officiating. Viewing will be held the same day from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Abell Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the same church with the same officiant. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy. Magdalena died Saturday, October 18, 2025 in Abernathy, TX. She was born on August 10, 1925, in San Buenaventura, Coahuila, Mexico, to Gertrudis and Micaela (De La Cerda) Salas. Before her marriage, Magdalena worked as a seamstress, a talent she used to create beauty and comfort for others. On February 25, 1951, she married Jose E. Ramos, Sr. in San Buenaventura. Soon after, they moved to the United States to begin their life together. Magdalena lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family and community. She had the rare gift of making everyone feel at ease and was a mother figure to all who knew her. The Ramos family was one of the original families of St. Isidore Catholic Church, where Magdalena was a faithful and longtime member. Her warmth, generosity, and faith touched countless lives throughout her many years. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose E. Ramos, 4 sons, Jose E. Ramos, Jr., Ruperto Ramos, Arnulfo S. Ramos, Anival J. Ramos and siblings, Teresa, Maria Lusia, Juan Salas, and Jesus Salas. Magdalena is survived by her sons Alonzo Ramos of Canyon, TX, and Hector Ramos of Abernathy, TX, a daughter Maria Murdock of Lubbock, TX, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
