Services for Mac Teakell, 73, of Abernathy, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 10, 2008, in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell and Rev. Syl Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy, TX. The family gathered at Abell Funeral Home, Sunday, March 9, 2008 from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm, to greet friends. Mr. Teakell died Friday, March 7, 2008, in Lubbock, TX. He was born October 31, 1934 in Gould, OK. He married Barbara Nell Patterson on February 7, 1953 in Vernon, TX, she preceded him in death January 3, 2005. He married Maybell (Neis) Perkins on October 31, 2006 in Lubbock, TX. He has lived in the Abernathy area since moving from Lubbock in 1965. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a 33rd Degree Mason. He owned and operated Teakell Gin at County Line, TX from 1965 until 1989, he also owned and operated A to Z Coin in Abernathy for the past 15 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Teakell in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Maybell of Abernathy, TX, a son, Bill Teakell and his wife Vicki of Abernathy, TX, 2 daughters, Teresa Fisher and her husband Bill of Lubbock, TX and Debra Crowder and her husband Mike of Ransom Canyon, TX 2 step-children, Donna Perkins of Lubbock, TX and Larry Perkiins of McLean, TX and a sister, Ava Lou Holmes of Byers, TX. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Lara Mandrell, Dianna Crowder, Seth Smith, Amber Noland, Michael Christian, Emma Teakell, Kirstie and Kaleb Perkins and a great granddaughter, MacKenna Noland.
