Funeral services for Madison Charles Evans, 62, of Hale Center, TX, were held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 16, 2003, in the Hale Center Church of Christ with Steve Gauntt and Matthew Swanson officiating. Burial followed in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center, TX. Mr. Evans died Friday, October 10, 2003, in Eads, CO. He was born February 18, 1941 in the Eagle Springs community North West of Abernathy, TX, in Hale County. He graduated Abernathy High School in 1959 and had been a lifelong Abernathy and Hale Center resident. He married Barbara McGuire February 22, 1981 in Hale Center, TX. He was a member of the Hale Center Church of Christ and was a charter member and President of the Abernathy Riding Club. He farmed for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Evans of Hale Center, TX, 5 children, Sherry Evans and Kathy Evans both of Lubbock, TX, Connor Evans and his wife, Shana of El Segundo, CA, Stephanie McCall and her husband Lee of Shallowater, TX, and Mark Bell of Austin, TX. Parents, M. D. "Coot" and Beth Evans of Abernathy, TX. 1 sister, Peggy Escue of San Antonio, TX. 1 brother, Randy Evans of La Junta, CO. 4 grandchildren, Mason Evans of El Segundo, CA, Katy, Amanda and Adam McCall all of Shallowater, TX. 4 nieces, Carolyn Escue, Sharon Escue, Toni Ervin and Rhetta McGuire. 2 nephews, Dan Evans and Robert McGuire.
