M. D. "Coot" Evans

Services for M. D. "Coot" Evans, 94, of Abernathy, TX, will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 30, 2017, in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Randall Carr officiating. The family will gather to receive friends from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm Monday, May 29, 2017 at Abell Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX.

Mr. Evans died Thursday, May 25, 2017, in Lubbock, TX.

He was born November 30, 1922 in Eagle Springs, TX to Madison M. and Docia (Wallace) Evans. He married Beth Stephens, June 22, 1940 in Abernathy. Coot was a lifelong Abernathy resident, 52 year member of the Abernathy Riding Club and longtime member of the Abernathy Church of Christ. He farmed and raised cattle in Hale County until retiring in 1987. He loved to play dominoes.

He was preceded in death by 3 children, Charles Evans in 2003, Peggy Escue in 2008, Randy Joe Evans in 2009 and his wife, Beth, May 20, 2015.

He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Evans, 9 grandchildren, Sherry Evans, Kathy Evans, Connor Evans and wife Shana, Dan Evans and wife Roxanne, Toni Ervin, Carolyn Escue, Sharon Escue, Stephanie McCall and husband Lee and Mark Bell, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
